Let me be honest here...I don't think I have ever actually bought any music with my own money. Furthermore, honestly, I don't think I have ever bought music.
I acquired my first album just a year ago.. My best friend gave me One Direction's album, Midnight Memories, despite her obvious lack of excitement for the band for my sixteenth birthday. I actually rarely listen to that CD; however, it is quite nice having the physical copy of a CD sitting on my radio. I usually listen to most of my music from either my phone or the radio. Most likely, people question my music taste quite a bit after hearing that my first album was a One Direction CD, and I wouldn't blame them.
I probably downloaded my first song when I finally earned an iPod back in 7th grade way back when my music consisted primarily of the newest Pop and Christian hits. There was an embarrassing quantity of awful pop songs including Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, and Justin Bieber. Now, the music I listen to consists of a multitude of genres including rap, electronic, pop, and basically anything that I think sounds good. Occasionally, I will still go back to the old songs that I had downloaded years ago just out of nostalgia. That's not to say that I don't occasionally enjoy replaying these songs, but there's just always so much more new music coming in for me to listen to. However, I know for a fact that some of the songs on my phone now would make my parents terrible ashamed with all the explicit language, but so much of music now has taken in obscene language to convey certain ideas. These ideas or themes may not always be the most appropriate, but the sound of the music may always be enjoyable for me.
So.. ending this blog post with a sorry to the music industry for all the pirated and illegally downloaded music. And, you may enjoy one of my current favorite songs below:
